Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, known by her stage name Ebony Reigns, was a Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist known for her hit songs “Poison” and “Kupe”.
She was discovered by Bullet from Ruff n Smooth fame.
Ebony Reigns sadly died exactly 2 years ago today — she died in a gory accident on the 8th of February 2018 when she was making a return journey to Accra from a visit to her mom in Sunyani.
The ‘Kupe’ hitmaker is still the reigning VGMA Artiste of The Year after organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charterhouse refused to announce the winner of the Artiste of the Year at the 2019 VGMAs.
Two years ago today, the sad news of Ebony’s demise broke and the internet went into mourning. The vibrant dancehall singer died in a fatal car accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road.
She died 8 days to her birthday alongside two other persons — a military officer identified as Francis Atsu Vondee and a lady friend called Frankie.
However, the driver of the vehicle Ebony was traveling in escaped death to the amazement of Ghanaians, though the driver is still yet to come out to narrate how the accident actually happened.
The energetic award-winning dancehall music diva was laid to rest on March 24, 2018, at the Osu Cemetery after a state burial was held for her.
May she continue resting in perfect peace!!!
