Ghana scores Nigeria 4-1 to win WAFU Cupadmin
The Black Stars have won the WAFU Cup with a convincing victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Cape Coast Stadium.
With a packed to capacity crowd, there was an exciting atmosphere in the stadium and fans had expected a cagey encounter.
Having earlier defeated the Black Stars 2-0 their last group game, the Nigerians had been expected to give the hosts a good run for their money but close contest but it turned out to be a rout as the stars run away as 4-1 victors.
After a scrappy start, the Stars took charge of the game after 30 minutes but had to wait till the 45th minute for the first goal of the game through Stephen Sarfo’s low strike which beat Nigeria keeper, I. Ezenwa.
The second half started with Nigeria threatening Ghana’s goal but after some spurned chances from both sides, Vincent Atinga made it 2-0 in the 59th minute.
Stephen Sarfo put the victory beyond doubt when he converted from the spot on 78 minutes to make it 3-0 and register his fourth goal of the tournament.
Winful Cobbinah added the fourth in injury time with Nigeria’s Buhari getting a late consolation.
